Early Years in Schools

Essex County Council Early Years and Childcare is responsible for meeting specific statutory duties relating to a number of legislative requirements and supporting early years and childcare providers across the county including schools and academies with information, advice, guidance and training in relation to these duties for the Early Years Foundation Stage.

The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework is for all early years providers: maintained schools; non-maintained schools; independent schools; all providers on the Early Years Register; and all providers registered with an early years childminder agency. The EYFS sets outs a framework to support children’s learning and development from birth to the end of their first year in school.

You can access further information relating to early years in schools on the link below which will take you directly to the Essex Schools InfoLink Early Years Team pages.  Statutory information and documents relating to the Early Years Foundation Stage Profile 2016-17 and moderation can also be found here.
